Capt. Richard Lance is unjustly held responsible, by his men and girlfriend, for an Indian massacre death of beloved Lt. Holloway. Holloway is killed while escorting a dangerous Indian chief to another fort’s prison. The chief escapes. Knowing their fort is in danger of Indian attack, Lance takes a small group of army misfits to an abandoned nearby army fort to defend a mountain pass against the oncoming Indian assault. Their mission is to stall for time until reinforcements from another fort arrive. The men in this small group of malcontents, deserters, psychopaths and cowards all hate Capt. Lance and wish him dead. Much to their chagrin, the men recognize that Lance’s survival instincts, military knowledge and leadership are the only chance the group has of staying alive.

Vance Shaw gives up outlawing and goes to work for the telegraph company; his brother Jack Slade leads outlaws trying to prevent the company connecting the line between Omaha and Salt Lake City. Lots of Indian fighting and gunplay.
Rocky Lane (Allan Lane) hits the trail when he gets word that one of two brothers in a partner-ship mining project has been killed by outlaws trying to gain possession of the mine. The other brother, Nugget Clark (Eddy Waller), a testy old sourdough, wants no part of the law, and is particularly set against the young sheriff, Keith Ames (William Henry), courting his niece Trudy (Gail Davis). Playing to the old man’s ego, Rocky takes charge of the situation.
Dave Harmon is a United States Marshall, who has been sent by the governor to the territory of Yuma. It seems that the law is not welcomed there; every Marshall that’s been sent has been chased out. But Harmon is a different story, upon arriving, he encounters two drunks and asks them to come with him to cool off, one of them pulls a gun on him and shoots, Harmon with no other choice shoots him. He is told that the man he killed is the brother of Arch King, a powerful man, who adheres to only one law, his. Later that evening someone breaks into the jail and lets the other man out and shoots him with Harmon’s gun. It seems that the other man is also King’s brother. Most people think that Harmon shot him but a Mexican boy whom Harmon allowed to sleep on the floor of the jail said that it was two men and that one of them’s a soldier. Harmon is then visited by King and is told that unless he can prove that he was not the one who killed his brother, King will be back and will deal with him…

Tim Ross, formerly an agent for the Justice Department, is traveling with the Doc Shaw medicine show as a sharpshooter. He runs into an old friend, Tex Weaver, who is working undercover to roundup a bank-robbing band. Later, while Tex is holding a coin for Tim to shoot out of his hand at a show exhibition, another shot is fired from the outer circle of spectators at the same time as Tim fires. Tex falls dead. Everybody, but Tim and saloon girl Goldie Harris, Tex’s girlfriend, is convinced that Tim misfired and hit his friend. Goldie has picked up the coin Tex was holding and knows Tim did not miss his intended target. Tim rejoins the federal service and swears vengeance on the real killer, Runniyon, a member of the gang. Disguised as a Mexican caballero (with an added mustache and a large sombrero and a larger accent),Tim goes to Clearwater, where he meets Goldie, who sees through his disguise and agrees to help him find the killer of her lover. Willis Newcomb and Bart Carroll head a gang engaged in smuggling wanted-American criminals back into the United States from Mexico. Operating from Sharperville, an oil town on the American side of the border, they transport their human cargo in oil drums loaded on trucks. Border Patrolman Tom Sharper intercepts one of the trucks but is overpowered and left for dead. Carroll, having already been paid for the job and not wanting any evidence to walk around, get caught and lead back to him, backs the human-cargo trucks to the edge of a cliff and sends the drums crashing to the boulder far below. Judge Cookie Bullfincher and Border Patrolman Roy Rogers conduct a search for the missing Tom, but the crooks have gone back for him and find him in a state of amnesia. They rob the bank and pin it on Tom. It is now up to Roy to clear his friend and also put an end to Carroll’s human-smuggling racket.
Dorn is after the rancher’s land and is trying to stop Banker Brady from helping them. When his man Hammond kills Brady, there is a run on the bank. When Rocky volunteers to ride to the next town for money, he is ambushed by Dorn’s men, loses his memory, and is jailed for supposedly stealing the money.
