Beast from the Haunted Cave (1959)

Directed by Monte Hellman and produced by Gene Corman, Beast from Haunted Cave is a low-budget horror-heist hybrid that blends crime thriller tropes with creature-feature chills. Shot in the snowy wilderness of South Dakota’s Black Hills, the film was part of a double production effort alongside Ski Troop Attack—both using the same cast, crew, and locations.

Plot Summary
A gang of gold thieves led by Alexander Ward (Frank Wolff) plans a bank heist in Deadwood, South Dakota. To create a diversion, they detonate a nearby mine—but unwittingly awaken a giant spider-like beast that feeds on human blood. As they flee to a remote cabin with local guide Gil Jackson, tensions rise and the monster begins stalking them through the snow. The gang’s internal conflicts and the creature’s attacks build toward a claustrophobic showdown in the haunted cave.
