Directed by William Watson and produced by Monogram Pictures, Heroes in Blue is a compact crime drama that blends family loyalty with urban tension. With a runtime of just 61 minutes, the film explores the moral dilemmas faced by a family of policemen when one son strays into the criminal underworld.
Plot Summary
Mike Murphy (Frank Sheridan), a retired cop turned night watchman, has two sons: Terry (Dick Purcell), a dedicated beat cop, and Joe (Charles Quigley), who’s fallen in with a gangster named Moran (Edward Keane). When Moran gives Joe money to bet on a horse race, Joe panics and makes a different wager—losing everything. A confrontation leads to a death, and Joe becomes a fugitive.
As Joe hides out with his wife Daisy (Bernadene Hayes), Terry is tasked with bringing his brother in. The family is torn between duty and love, especially when their mother suffers a heart attack from the stress. The film builds toward a tense resolution as Terry must choose between his badge and his blood.
