Plot Summary
Set in the late 18th century, the story follows Johnny Butler (James MacArthur), a white boy who was kidnapped and raised by the Lenni Lenape (Delaware) tribe and renamed True Son. When a peace treaty mandates the return of white captives, Johnny is forcibly removed from his Native family and sent to live with his biological relatives in Pennsylvania.

Struggling to reconcile his Native upbringing with colonial expectations, Johnny faces hostility from both sides. His uncle Wilse Owens (Wendell Corey) is particularly antagonistic, while Del Hardy (Fess Parker), a sympathetic frontiersman, tries to help him adjust. As tensions rise between settlers and Native tribes, Johnny must choose where his true allegiance lies.
