Also known by its alternate U.S. title Invasion of the Animal People, Terror in the Midnight Sun is a Swedish-American B-movie directed by Virgil W. Vogel. It’s a curious blend of alien invasion tropes and Arctic adventure, set in the snowy wilderness of Lapland, where scientists and locals confront a towering extraterrestrial beast.
Plot Summary
After a meteor crashes in the frozen north, a team of scientists—including American figure skater Diane Wilson (Barbara Wilson)—investigates strange phenomena near the impact site. Soon, a giant, furry alien creature begins terrorizing the region, capturing Diane and causing panic among the villagers. The creature is revealed to be a biological instrument sent by aliens, who eventually retrieve it and depart peacefully, leaving humanity to ponder its place in the cosmos.
